Young dancers belonging to the Fusion Arts Academy Festival Crews have been continuing to dance thanks to their online dance hub.
Created several years ago by the group’s founder Jo Willey, the online hub has been put to ever greater use during the current coronavirus outbreak. Dance classes and work are shared with children and there is a weekly dance challenge for members where a new move is demonstrated which, once mastered, is sent back to the Fusion tutors.
“We are very fortunate to have an established online hub which keeps the dancers connected while we are all staying at home,’ says Jo.
“We know how important dancing and performance is to our members so have been setting challenges and competitions to keep them active, entertained and motivated during these difficult times.”
The academy would normally be taking part in mainland competitions, supported by new sponsors Wightlink, however all travel is on hold for now until life returns to normal.
Stuart James from team sponsor Wightlink says: “We have only recently established a new partnership with Fusion Arts Academy, having been impressed by their skills and contribution to the arts on the Island, so are sorry that they are unable to compete at the moment. However, we are really pleased that they are able to remain so connected and keep spirits up as they continue to learn new routines.”
